Ter competência na articulação entre teoria, investigação e prática social, que o permite elaborar, coordenar, executar e avaliar planos, programas e projetos, voltados sobretudo para a popularização da ciência e compreender e refletir criticamente sobre as necessidades dos grupos sociais e comunidades tradicionais.

Ter excelente domínio na área de sócio antropologia do desenvolvimento e cultura, com competências em temáticas relacionadas com os conceitos centrais de tradição, modernidade e pós-modernidade  sobretudo nos domínios da sociologia e da antropologia da educação.

Habilidades para identificar as ‘diferenças’ individuais e grupais como sujeitos da sua própria ação social e individual.

Competência no estabelecimento de programas e projectos orientados para a preservação e uso do patrimônio material e imaterial, entendido este como representação da atividade humana no tempo e no espaço.
